Hello.

I’m Siobhan Ring (she/her – my name is pronounced shi-vawn). dahlia strategic is my consulting project. I am a strategist, a writer, a trainer, and a facilitator.  I can help you solve problems, seize opportunities, build strong, powerful, and welcoming organizations, and advance racial and social justice.

I'm here to build our collective capacity to create the joyful, safe, healthy, creative, racially just, and equitable future that we and future generations deserve. I believe in us.

My 25+ years of experience span community organizing, strategic communications, policy advocacy, leadership development, training, facilitation, and organizational development. I have policy and issue expertise in tenants’ rights, housing justice, creative & permanently affordable home ownership strategies, as well as health equity and policies that help kids and families survive and thrive.

I grew up in rural upstate NY. I have a B.A. from Macalester College in MN. I learned to organize at the Organizing Apprenticeship Project (now Voices for Racial Justice, MN) and did work I am proud of as an organizer and leader for 10+ years each at the Tenants Union of WA and Children's Alliance. I've been consulting since 2019 and now also work on the team at Firelands Workers United / Trabajadores Unidos. I am a white woman, granddaughter of Irish immigrants, striving to embody and enact solidarity, anti-racist practices, and love for community. I am a queer mama and I live with my wife and our family in Seattle, a city I love and has been my home since 1995. In addition to my consulting work, I am a creative non-fiction writer. Read my work in The Write Launch and Lunch Ticket Literary Journal and The Forge: Journal Of Organizing Strategy and Practice.

If you have a problem to solve or an opportunity to reach for, please get in touch.

What’s in a name? I chose ‘dahlia’ because dahlias embody many qualities I cultivate and celebrate in my work; vibrance, strength, endurance, endless variation, the capacity to retreat, rest, and re-emerge. Hopefully the ‘strategic’ part is obvious. Strategic thinking and action is what I’m all about.
